Mediation is a process that encourages people to work out their disputes with one another and develop solutions they will find equally acceptable.
Family Mediation .Why Choose Mediation? |
It’s Your Process |
| In mediation, the participants are in control. You work together to make the decisions about what is best. You should be prepared to discuss the interests, needs, values, and goals that are motivating you to pursue the matter(s) that have brought you to the table. |
It’s Your Choice |
| You only mediate if you want to, and you have the option to stop at any time. |
It’s Your Life |
| Mediation offers you the opportunity to address the values, goals, and interests that are important to you. No one knows your situation better than you and nobody else can better advocate your needs. |
It’s Your Time
|
| The mediation schedule provides a variety of date and time options. In general, initial sessions can be scheduled within one to two weeks of your intake. From start to finish, the entire mediation process is more time efficient when compared to the court process. |
It’s Your Money |
| Mediation is affordable. When compared to attorney fees and the cost of litigation, Mediation has a much better price tag. |
It’s Your Peace of Mind |
| In mediation, parties work together towards a solution that everyone can accept. While each person involved may have overlapping or conflicting interests, you will find that there may be ways for everyone to have their individual interests, needs, values and goals met. This is sometimes referred to as the “win-win” solution. |
Who Will Be Helping You With This Process? |
| The mediators work with you to help manage communications, discussions, and negotiations so that everyone has the opportunity to give thorough consideration to all of the issues, implications, and possible resolutions. They will not impose a settlement or recommend a particular outcome. The mediators will assist you in identifying the range of possible solutions and selecting the one or ones that will work for everyone involved. By law, mediators are not able to give you legal advice. However, you are encouraged to seek professional advice and guidance regarding the legal implications of any decisions you make. |
