D. Diane Weaver, MSA
Diane Weaver is a senior mediator and trainer with Northern Virginia Mediation Service (NVMS). For more than 13 years, Diane worked as an Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) Director, supervisor, manager and senior leader in several large Federal agencies. Diane’s background in the area of Human Resources Management includes experience as a Position Classification Specialist, Personnel Staffing Specialist, Employee Relations Specialist and Personnel Management Specialist. Diane has mediated over 60 cases in various venues including and her experience includes: conducting fact-finding conferences and negotiating settlement agreements as an EEO Investigator and Agency Grievance Examiner; co-mediating workplace disputes for the Interagency Sharing Neutrals Program at the Department of Health and Human Services; training EEO Counselors in conflict resolution techniques; and designing, deploying and managing EEO Alternative Dispute Resolution (Mediation) Programs for EEO cases. Diane is also certified by the Supreme Court of the State of Virginia to mediate court-referred cases in General District Court. Diane is also a mediator mentor, serving as a trainer, guide, coach and role-model for mediator trainees. Diane holds a Master of Science Degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. She also holds a NVMS Certificate in Federal Workplace Mediation. She has made numerous presentations on conflict resolution at conferences and seminars.
Michael West, M.S.
Michael West is a mentor mediator with 17 years of experience as a certified mediator and trainer in mediation and conflict resolution skills. He began his career as a mediator in private practice and he has continued to expand his experience as a Dispute Resolution Specialist, executive leadership coach and trainer in the federal government and in private practice. He has a Masters degree from, and is an adjunct professor with, the Institute for Conflict Analysis & Resolution, George Mason University. He is also a graduate of the Georgetown Executive Leadership Coaching program. He conducts training in a variety of topics; relationship awareness, conflict prevention, leadership and communication skills. Michael has presented at state and national conferences and has been a guest speaker on conflict resolution, basic and advanced training for federal agencies, the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins and George Washington University, federal and private sector managers and employees, attorneys, therapists, and other professionals. He has been described as a highly innovative, creative, engaging and energetic trainer. He is qualified to administer the Strength Deployment Inventory, MBTI and Conflict Dynamics Instrument.
Rea A. Wynder
Rea Wynder is a mediator with a broad range of conflict resolution experience including child protection mediation, permanency resolution for foster children, truancy and general civil mediation. She has been mediating with Northern Virginia Mediation Service since 1998 and has received her Supreme Court Mediator Certification and Mentor Status Certification. Ms. Wynder has conducted mediations in a variety of contexts including the D.C. Superior Court, Alexandria Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court, Fairfax JDR and Circuit Courts and in General District Courts as well. Ms. Wynder received her B.A from George Mason University in 1985 and has taken graduate studies at GMU’s Institute of Conflict Analysis and Resolution.
